‘Snow’ falls on Bowman Christmas parade

Elbert County Middle School (ECMS) Beta Club member Jaukeem Fortson was crowned the champion of the solo talent category during the annual state Beta Club Convention in Savannah Nov. 30 through Dec. 2. Fortson was one of 38 students to attend the convention from ECMS. The club brought home a record-breaking 10 Top 10 placements, all of which will go on to compete on the national stage in Louisville, Kentucky in June at the national convention.

Georgia Farm Bureau elects Tom McCall for second presidential term during convention

Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB) voting delegates elected the organization’s 2023 board of directors Dec. 6 during the 85th Annual GFB Convention held on Jekyll Island. GFB voting delegates re-elected Tom McCall to a second, two-year term. He was first elected in 2020.

The City of Elberton took the next step in establishing a potential $4 million to $7 million spec building in the Elberton Industrial Park as the Elberton City Council voted unanimously to enter into an agreement with Agracel, Inc. to provide construction management services for the project.

The City of Bowman will hold its annual Mistletoe Market and Christmas parade Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10. The Mistletoe Market will be held from 6 p.m. to 9.m. and include crafts, food vendors, Christmas caroling around the Christmas tree and visiting with Santa.
