A county solid waste vehicle brought down a power pole in Bowman Monday afternoon, causing a power outage in most of the city, according to Mayor Roberta Rice. Rice said power was restored to the area around 45 minutes to an hour following the accident.

Elbert County Administrator Phil Pitts has resigned, effective following 15 days of owed vacation, after being pressured to leave by Commission Chairman Lee Vaughn and the belief a majority of commissioners would vote to fire him.

Development Authority chairman asks city not to renew term

Bowman Gun Club new home to Emmanuel Clay Target team

The Emmanuel Clay Target team is recognized as a top tier program in NCAA DII. However, for years, the team only dreamed of having a home shooting range. Three years ago, the owner of a local gun club proposed a management agreement with Emmanuel College to use and manage his gun club.
