Early voting numbers set record highs

The 89th annual Elberton 12-County Fair bustled with visitors, rides and food Oct. 13 through Oct. 23. Fair-goers enjoyed the amusement rides, a “Banana Derby,” The Voice of the Elberton 12-County Fair Competition, an inaugural Mullet Hair Competition, helicopter tours, a white tiger exhibit and local talent acts each day. Dobbins resigns as economic developer

Economic Developer Daniel Dobbins has resigned as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Development Authority of Elbert County, Elberton and Bowman. Dobbins announced his formal resignation, effective Dec. 30, in an email to authority members Monday afternoon.

The highest honor that can be awarded to someone who works in the world of wildfire prevention has been given to Elbert County native and Georgia Forestry Commission Wildfire Mitigation Specialist Mark Wiles.

Rucker goes back to school

McClary makes history as chamber chairman

When Kam McClary took over as chairman of the Elbert County Chamber of Commerce in 2020, he was the first African American chairman in the chamber’s history and is now just one of seven chairman to serve a two-year term.
