General Assembly OKs higher truck weights

Anglers place second at regional qualifier on West Point Lake

Ethan Vaughn, Adrian Harris and Boat Captain Brad Vaughn were the first ever Elbert County anglers to place at a regional qualifier after they finished second out of 271 other boats at the regional qualifier held at West Point Lake in LaGrange March 18. “They did awesome.

Athens Tech to hold dedication, ribbon cutting Friday

Athens Technical College will hold a dedication and ribbon cutting for the Tom McCall Agriscience Complex Friday, March 31 at 11 a.m. Located on the Elbert County campus, the building houses labs and classrooms for the college’s agriculture and conservation law enforcement programs.

School renovations remain on schedule

Renovations at the former Beaverdam Elementary School and the 10-classroom addition at Elbert County Elementary School (ECES) are still on schedule to be completed this summer, Superintendent Jon Jarvis told the Elbert County Board of Education during Monday night’s regular meeting.

Smiles and snacks for opening day

Elbert County Little League kicked off another season of T-ball, coaches’ pitch, softball and baseball games at McWilliams Park during opening day Saturday, March 18.

Community Choice Awards voting ends Friday

Voting for the inaugural Community Choice Awards will end this Friday, March 24, at noon. Sponsored by The Elberton Star, the Elbert County Chamber of Commerce and WSGC Radio, the awards will highlight the community’s choice for the best of the best in Elbert County.
