Grand jury hands down indictment for murder charges

An Elbert County grand jury handed down an indictment of Andrew Nicholas Berry for malice murder, felony murder and seven other charges after he was arrested and charged in the death of his girlfriend Dec. 31, 2022.

County vehicle takes down power pole in Bowman

A county solid waste vehicle brought down a power pole in Bowman Monday afternoon, causing a power outage in most of the city, according to Mayor Roberta Rice. Rice said power was restored to the area around 45 minutes to an hour following the accident.
