A total lunar eclipse took place between 5:16 a.m. and 6:41 a.m. over the East Coast of the United States Tuesday morning as the moon passed entirely into the Earth’s shadow. The beginning of the red eclipse could be seen just beyond the Historic Courthouse. According to NASA’s website, the next total lunar eclipse won’t take place again until March of 2025. The Elbert County Comprehensive High School mixed Raiders team brought home the state championship after the state meet in Griffin Oct. 29. The mixed team is made up of Raiders Kalebb Ingle, Heidi Navarro, Justin Brown, Phillip Bolden, Eva Garcia-Laguna, Linda-Garcia Laguna, Tyson Haigood, Jamaze Hall, Josiah Harkins, Isabella Harpold, Wyatt Stelter, Selenda Valdivia and Aiden Clark.

The 89th annual Elberton 12-County Fair bustled with visitors, rides and food Oct. 13 through Oct. 23.
