Main Street Elberton hosted the annual Cruise-In Car Show and Granite Bowl Blast July 18 on the Elberton square. Over 140 hot rods, classic cars and more flocked to the city to show off for a packed square of car enthusiasts.

The Elbert County Board of Education held its final meeting before the 2026-27 school year Monday.Superintendent Robert Wheeler noted his anticipation for the beginning of the school year.“I am so very excited for the upcoming school year,” he said. “I think I speak for a large number of our staff.

Diamond Devils well-represented on all-state teams

Five Elbert County Diamond Devils made the GHSA Georgia Dugout Club All-State teams for Class A Division I. Elbert County went 28-8 in the 2026 season, winning a region title and advancing to the Elite 8 of the state playoffs.Senior outfielder Jose Rodriguez was a first-team selection.
