ElbertonNet is now the City of Elberton’s largest utility in terms of customer base as the subscriber count eclipsed 4,600 customers in the month of February, City Manager Lanier Dunn announced during the city’s regular meeting Monday.

Nearly every Thursday morning, a group of 10 to 12 men from the First Baptist Church Ramp Ministry don matching red or neon yellow shirts and travel to the home of someone in need in Elbert County.

Development Authority names McCall chairman

Al McCall has taken over as chairman of the Development Authority of Elbert County, Elberton and Bowman. McCall, the Elbert County Board of Commissioners’ recent appointee, was installed as a new representative during a Feb. 22 meeting of the authority and named chairman shortly after.

Mary Toney, a cornerstone for over half of Elbert Memorial Hospital’s nearly 73 years of operation, is set to retire from the hospital Friday after 47 years of service.

Authority approves $272,000 contract for new CEO

Tyler Taylor will take over as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Elbert Memorial Hopsital (EMH) next week with a $272,000 annual salary after a three-year contract was approved during a called meeting of the Elberton-Elbert County Hospital Authority Feb. 16.
