The Elberton City Council voted 3-2, with council members Carey Butler and Troy Colquitt voting opposed, to approve and authorize the Elberton Splash Park Recreation Center Project during Monday night’s meeting.

A nearly $500,000 training facility for the Elberton Fire Department is set to be built off of Calhoun Falls Highway after being approved by the Elberton City Council during Monday night’s meeting.

Nearly one year ago, Elbert County native Emily McLanahan was on vacation in Mexico when she received the text of a lifetime from her boss at FOX Sports. McLanahan had won the highest award in television – an Emmy Award from the National Academy of Televesion Arts and Sciences.

The 11th annual Friends Helping Friends (FHF) Pageant and Live Auction with two-time Super Bowl champion Mecole Hardman Jr. will be held Saturday, April 29 in the Elbert County Middle School (ECMS) Auditorium at 4:45 p.m. No tickets are needed but donations are appreciated.
