New gas rates to go into affect in Bowman for July billing

Natural gas customers in the City of Bowman will see their first bill with increased gas rates in the month of July, Mayor Roberta Rice announced during Monday’s meeting.  The rates, which were increased during the May meeting from $9 to $9.50 and the usage rate from $0.

The Elbert County Board of Education (BOE) voted unanimously to approve a $49 million 2024 fiscal year (FY) budget, including a $35 million general fund, during Monday night’s regular meeting.

The Elbert County Martin Luther King Jr. Committee held a roundtable discussion forum to discuss the history and significance of Juneteenth June 19 at the Mill Street Gym.
Elbert County’s Boyd Carrington (middle) was crowned the 2023 S3DA male Junior Eagle pins National Champion during the 2023 Eastern S3DA 3D National Championship in Rend Lake, Illinois June 15 through June 18. Carrington, who participates in Disciple Archery through Dewy Rose Baptist Church, was crowned the national champion following a state champion award and 2023 shooter of the year award during the Georgia S3DA 3D State Championship event in Maysville June 10.

Richard Campbell has resigned as the City of Bowman’s attorney.  His letter, addressed to Mayor Roberta Rice and the Bowman City Council members, was sent by email and first class mail on June 6.
