Budgeting for higher revenues

The Elbert County Board of Commissioners’ (BOC) proposed budget revenue increase of nearly $2.3 million from the property tax digest over 2022 is due, in part, to a loss in over $1.

Scarborough releases third book in ‘Crazy Daisy’ series

County proposes four percent increase

The Elbert County Board of Commissioners (BOC) is looking at a general fund budget increase of just over four percent in the coming year, County Administrator Allen Hulme announced Monday.  The county’s overall proposed budget can be found on page 3 of today’s paper.

Officers take out bear on Heard Street

A bear was shot and killed by the Elberton Police Department following a sighting at a residence on Heard Street June 23.  Police Chief Scott Marunich said officers received a call at 9:01 p.m.
