FHF hosts annual pageant and auction

Submitted by FHF, Club, Inc.   Friends Helping Friends Club, Inc. (FHF) hosted their 13th annual pageant, auction and prom Saturday, Feb. 22. The pageant and auction seek to raise awareness and funds for young people in Elbert County with special needs and abilities.

Rider to step down from ECCHS for 2026

EMS rescues fallen worker

Bowman gas customers will see increase in April

By Julie Weeks jweeks@elberton.com   Bowman gas customers will see an increase to their base gas rates beginning with the April bill. Bowman City Council members voted unanimously for the increase at the Feb. 12 meeting.

2025 STAR Awards

Asa Williams, son of Lacy and J. Brian Williams, has been named the Elbert County Comprehensive High School (ECCHS) STAR Student for 2024-2025. Asa selected Alton Smith, his Accelerated Pre-Calculus teacher, as his STAR Teacher.

McKnight crowned 2025 Miss ECCHS

By Kennedy Ray ECCHS Correspondent   Elbert County Comprehensive High School (ECCHS) freshman Makayla Mc- Knight was crowned the new Miss ECCHS at the 10th annual pageant sponsored by the Elbert County Band Boosters Feb. 1. Mc-Knight also earned the Community Service award.

Boat crash on Lake Russell under investigation

By Julie Weeks jweeks@elberton.com   The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GADNR) is investigating a boating incident reported by Elbert County Emergency Services Sunday in which two boats collided in the area of Pearl Mill and Middleton boat ramps.

Two thirds of Georgia's school systems set to opt out of HB581
