Planning and zoning supports Lutz reinstatement

Five members of the Elbert County Planning and Zoning Committee have come out in formal support of the reinstatement of former member Johnny Lutz, who was not reappointed to the board after his term expired.

Elbert County softball prepared to kick off region play

The Elbert County softball team has continued to stack wins to start the 2025 season, sporting a 7-2 record in nine games so far this fall. Last week, the Lady Devils picked up two comfortable victories over Stephens and Washington-Wilkes before falling 13-5 on the road at Prince Avenue Christian.

The Elbert County volleyball team continued its strong start to the 2025 season last week, sweeping George Walton Academy on the road Thursday to move to 7-4 on the year.

Elbert County cross country had its second meet of the year on Saturday, running in the North Georgia Championships hosted at Lamar Murphy Park by East Jackson High School in Jefferson.

After years in the making, the City of Elberton is finally ready to cut the ribbon on what they have named "Splash Island Elberton at Senior League Park."

Subdivision, solar on ECPC's upcoming docket

The Elbert County Planning Commission (ECPC) is scheduled to hold a public hearing to discuss a new subdivision and a  new solar farm that are pending rezone approval from the Elbert County Board of Commissioners (BOC), according to a public notice provided to The Elberton Star.

Elbert County cross country kicks off season in Athens

Elbert County cross country began the 2025 season by participating in the Northeast Georgia Cross Country Championships, hosted by Athens Christian on Aug. 16. It was a mildewy, partially muddy surface thanks to some rain the night before.

Lady Devils softball rebounds, wins four straight

The Elbert County softball team is off to a strong start in 2025. Though in their first game they ran into a talented Jefferson team that remains undefeated through eight games as of press time, the Blue Devils responded by ripping off four straight victories.
