Former state representative Charles Mann dead at 89

Long-time Elbert County resident and former Georgia House Representative Charles C. Mann died at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 24. He was 89. A native of Lyons, Mann and wife Mary Frances Ward Mann arrived in Elberton in 1960 where he first worked at Elberton Drug.

Annual Twilight Stroll to take place Friday

The Elbert County Chamber of Commerce's 2024 Twilight Stroll by the Granite Bowl 5K Run and Walk will hit the streets of Elberton Friday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m.  The annual event features a 3.1 mile course around downtown Elberton as the sun sets on the first Friday night of the year.

By Patrick Farguson, Editor The Hartwell Sun   Elbert County native Rose Scoggins has been named editor/publisher of The Hartwell Sun. Community Newspapers Inc. (CNI) Northeast Georgia Regional Publisher Keith Barlow made the announcement Dec. 18.
