A two-hour rain delay preceded Elbert County football’s season opener at Hart County on Friday night, and things didn’t get much easier for the Blue Devils once the weather cleared up.

Friends Helping Friends Club Inc. is holding the 12th Annual JAM Fest and Taste of Elberton Aug. 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in The ROC at First Baptist Church of Elberton. The event will feature a food court including local vendors, concerts by local musicians and both silent and live cake auctions.

Elbert County Board of Education calling for ESPLOST referendum

The Elbert County Board of Education voted to approve a referendum at their monthly meeting on Monday which would allow Elberton voters to decide whether to extend the current 1% E-SPLOST sales tax from December 2026, when it is currently set to expire, until June 2027.
