Lady Devils take hard-fought region championship

The Elbert County Lady Devils softball team took home the Region 8A Division 1 championship Thursday, Oct. 6 after falling 4-0 to Commerce High School in the last region game of the regular season. Because the Lady Devils defeated Commerce 11-6 during the first round of region play Sept.

Lady Devils top region rankings

The Elbert County Lady Devils softball team clinched the Region 8A Division 1 championship, the first under Head Coach Drew Greer, and the opportunity to host the new super regionals round of the state playoffs after falling to Commerce High School Oct. 6.

Devils move to 7-0 for the first time in over a decade

The Elbert County Blue Devil football team climbed from ninth to sixth in the state for Class A Division 1 in Georgia High School Football Daily’s weekly rankings after the Devils defeated the previous seventh-ranked team in Whitefield Academy on the road Oct. 7 in Mableton.

Coach Clinkscales: ‘Be proud of Elbert County’

When long-time Elbert County Coach James Clinkscales was recognized in between quarters of the Devils’ Sept. 29 homecoming football game, it was one of the three greatest moments of his life.

Homecoming shines in the Granite Bowl

A pair of back-to-back early explosive plays from the Blue Devil defense helped Elbert take a whopping 36-7 homecoming victory over Mount Vernon High School’s Mustangs on an unusual Thursday night in the Granite Bowl.

Lady Devils to play for region title Thursday

  The Elbert County Lady Devils softball team improved their region record to 6-0 as they downed Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy Sept. 27 in Barrow. Elbert won the game 14-2 and has one more region game against Commerce High School Oct.

ECMS wraps fall sports seasons

The Elbert County Middle School (ECMS) Rams and Lady Rams concluded their seasons with a total of four runners who were awarded medals for placing in the Top 20 of the Northeast Georgia Independent Athletic Association Region Championships hosted by ECMS Sept. 27.
