Devils tame Tigers to take first region win

The Elbert County Blue Devils are set to be in sole control of second place for Region 8A Division 1 after taking down Commerce High School’s Tigers in a 41-21 win on the road in their second region game Oct. 21.

The Elbert County Lady Devils softball team’s season came to an end after a loss to Social Circle in the finals of the super regional round of the GHSA state playoffs at Wesley King Field Oct. 19.

Lunsford named 8A Player of the Year

The Elbert County Lady Devils softball team is home to a two-time region player of the year as senior Ava Lunsford was recently named the Region 8A Division 1 Player of the Year by the region’s coaches. Lunsford also won the Region 8AA Player of the Year title during her junior season.

Big laughs for the last home game

The Lady Devils softball team began their slate of super regional games at home Tuesday, Oct. 18 against Chattooga High School after closing the regular season out with a pair of wins against Washington-Wilkes High School and Oglethorpe County High School.

The Elbert County Blue Devils fell to 7-1 on the season after losing to undefeated and third-ranked Rabun County on senior night Oct. 14 in the historic Granite Bowl in a game where Elbert was handicapped by mistakes and missed opportunities.

The Blue Devils and Lady Devils cross country teams have their sights set on the Region 8A Division 1 championship meet hosted by Tallulah Falls School Oct. 27 after running in the Kent Kramer Classic Oct. 13 in Athens to close out their regular season.

Lady Volley Devils wrap third season in area tournament

The Elbert County Lady Devils volleyball team concluded their historic third season with a program-high eight wins, a program-high three area wins and doubled their all-time highest number of sets won in a season as they won 19 sets over the course of the 2022 season.

Mixed raider team to advance to state meet Oct. 29 in Griffin

The Elbert County Raiders mixed team qualified for the Raiders State Meet hosted by Spalding High School in Griffin Oct. 29 after a season where the Raiders posted first-place finishes in multiple meets.
