Devil, Lady Devil runners top charts in region rankings

Volley Devils to travel to Athens Christian for area play

By Mark Wells mwells@elberton.com   Area play was scheduled to begin this week for Elbert County’s Lady Volley Devils as they were set to see three area opponents in matches Tuesday and Thursday. Elbert was scheduled to host Commerce High School and Athens Christian School Aug.

Lady Rams take pair of victories to move season record to 6-3

By Mark Wells mwells@elberton.com   The Elbert County Middle School (ECMS) Lady Rams softball team triumphed during a week that saw a rescheduled game and a trip to Rabun County to add two more wins to their now 6-3 overall record Aug. 18 and Aug. 23.

Hart breakers: Devils defeat Hart for first time since 2018

By Mark Wells mwells@elberton.com   Elbert County defeated arch rival Hart County for the first time since 2018 by a score of 31-28 in the historic Granite Bowl Aug. 19 after a back-and-forth battle that was clinched by a defensive fourth down stop in the final minutes of the game.

Softball, baseball fields to flood with new illumination

By Mark Wells mwells@elberton.com   New and improved lighting is coming to the Elbert County Comprehensive High School baseball and softball fields at a cost of nearly $400,000 after the Elbert County Board of Education (BOE) voted to approve the expenditure during Monday night’s meeting.

By Mark Wells mwells@elberton.com   The Coaches Poll pre-season seventh-ranked Lady Devils softball team kicked off the season Aug. 2 with a 13-0 scrimmage against Lincoln County that saw senior Lilly Ray score a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning.
