The Elbert County Lady Devils softball team took home the Region 8A Division 1 championship Thursday, Oct. 6 after falling 4-0 to Commerce High School in the last region game of the regular season. Because the Lady Devils defeated Commerce 11-6 during the first round of region play Sept. 20, the number of runs determined Elbert as the region champion.
