A brightly colored celebration for the 4th of July holiday was attended by Elbert County residents Saturday, July 1 at Newford Creek in Lincoln County on Thurmond Lake. The event included a golf cart parade of around 35 carts and was organized by Kyle and Sandra Brown.

Car show to celebrate 25 years Saturday

Main Street Elberton and the Elbert County Chamber of Commerce’s annual car show and Granite Bowl blast will ring in its 25th year Saturday. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the downtown square.

The Elbert County Board of Commissioners’ (BOC) proposed budget revenue increase of nearly $2.3 million from the property tax digest over 2022 is due, in part, to a loss in over $1.

County proposes four percent increase

The Elbert County Board of Commissioners (BOC) is looking at a general fund budget increase of just over four percent in the coming year, County Administrator Allen Hulme announced Monday.  The county’s overall proposed budget can be found on page 3 of today’s paper.
