City budget sees minor increase

The Elberton City Council is set to approve an increase of just over $480,000 for the proposed 2024 fiscal year (FY) budget during a called meeting June 8, down significantly from last year’s almost $2 million increase.

Solving a case on the Orient Express

The Elbert Theatre and Encore Productions are prepared to take their audience on a journey across Europe to solve a murder-mystery as their second production of the 2023 season, “Murder on the Orient Express,” debuts June 9.

Property values up as much as 40 percent

Property revaluation notices, with property values upwards of a 40 percent increase over Jan. 1, 2021 values, are expected to be in the mailboxes of Elbert County residents in the coming weeks, according to Elbert County Chief Appraiser Doug Kirkpatrick.

American Legion remembers the fallen

American Legion Post 14 held their annual Memorial Day program Monday, May 29 outside the Blackwell Memorial Cultural Center. The group heard from Sgt.
Elbert County native and Tena's employee Sydney Baston is the featured model on VAHAN Jewelry's new "Jewelry for Every Lifestyle" campaign. Baston, along with horse "Uno" had a photoshoot in Elbert County for the campaign, which is now featured in magazines, and is set to be on billboards and other advertisements, across the country.
