Spec building on track for May completion

The spec building being constructed in the Elberton Industrial Park is nearing completion and should be finished in May, City Manager Lanier Dunn announced during Monday night's regular meeting.

Five-year-old seriously injured after being hit by car while on bicycle

A five-year-old juvenile was airlifted to Greenville Medical Center with “life-threatening injuries” following a crash on Bells Ferry Road March 28. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the juvenile was exiting a private driveway on Bells Ferry Road and “entered the northbound lane” of the road.

BOE’s April work session to be held April 8 due to conflict

The Elbert County Board of Education’s April 9 work session will now be held Monday, April 8 due to a scheduling conflict with Superintendent Robert Wheeler, he announced during the March 18 regular meeting. The work session will still be held at 5:30 p.m.

A second reading for a solar ordinance that would prohibit a "solar energy facility or solar farm" within the city limits was tabled following concerns raised by Bob Thomas, former county administrator and Rural Green Power (RGP) representative.
