Annual Twilight Stroll taking place Friday

The Elbert County Chamber of Commerce's 2024 Twilight Stroll by the Granite Bowl 5K Run and Walk will hit the streets of Elberton Friday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. The annual event features a 3.1 mile course around downtown Elberton as the sun sets on the first Friday night of the year.

Georgia Farm Bureau News  Special to The Star   Elbert County Farm Bureau (ECFB) was recognized for its outstanding member programs and agricultural advocacy activities at the 86th Annual Georgia Farm Bureau (GFB) Convention held Dec. 3-5 on Jekyll Island. Mandy Williams is the ECFB president.

Solar hearing postponed

A public hearing for a rezone request that would bring a solar farm facility to the area of Balchin Road has been requested to be postponed by the developer. The rezone request, submitted Nov.

BOE approves exemptions

The Elbert County Board of Education (BOE) unanimously approved to propel two property tax exemptions to the Georgia General Assembly for consideration during Monday night’s meeting after recommendation by the property tax committee.

Beer, wine for sale in Bowman

Beer and wine will soon be available to purchase in the Bowman city limits after the Bowman City Council unanimously approved adopting an alcohol ordinance during Monday night's meeting. The ordinance is scheduled to take affect Jan. 1 and only allows for the sale of beer and wine from 6 a.m.
