The Elbert County Board of Education (BOE)  recognized Board Chair Teresa Barnett for over 15 years of faithful service to the district during the BOE’s Jan. 22 regular meeting.

EMH Foundation to host annual Casino Night Saturday

The Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation will hold its third annual Casino Night Saturday, Jan. 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Historic Rock Gym.  The evening will include gaming such as a poker, craps, roulette and more, as well as food, drinks and music.

Star reporter Mark Wells promoted to Sports Editor

Reporter Mark Wells has been promoted to sports editor, effective Jan. 22, editor/publisher Rose Scoggins recently announced.  "Mark has been a tremendous asset to The Elberton Star overall, but especially through his sports coverage," Scoggins said.
This year's theme featured the theme "The Dream Starts with Me" with many floats and cars featuring posters with the theme. The parade was the only event held for the 2024 Unity Celebration as the rest of the events were canceled. Budgeting on track for county

Now halfway through the 2024 fiscal year (FY), the Elbert County Board of Commissioners are in financially good shape compared to the previous year, according to financial reports from Chief Financial Officer Macie Witcher.
Elbert County was well represented during the annual Eggs and Issues breakfast sponsored by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce at Mercedes-Benz Stadium Jan. 10. Tennis courts nearly complete in time for upcoming season
