Early voting for the democratic sheriff’s runoff will be held June 10 through June 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Rock Gym.
Voters desiring to vote absentee by mail who are not already registered to do so have until Friday, June 7 at 5 p.m.

The May 21 Primary Election for Elbert County Sheriff is headed to a runoff on the democratic side of the ballot after candidates Dre Gibbs and Darren Scarborough were unable to secure more than 50 percent of the vote. They will face each other in a run-off June 18.

Planning and zoning votes to send solar ordinance updates to Board of Commissioners

During their May 23 meeting, Elbert County Planning and Zoning committee members voted unanimously to recommend recently proposed solar ordinance updates to the Elbert County Board of Commissioners (BOC) who will vote on them at their June 10 meeting.

Dye to begin June 12 as county economic developer

The Development Authority of Elbert County, Elberton and Bowman officially hired Caitlyn Dye as their new economic developer after announcing her as the sole finalist for the position May 9.
The position has been vacant since the previous economic developer left December of 2023.

BOE to hold final hearing on budget June 11

The Elbert County Board of Education (BOE) approved a tentative budget for the upcoming year during their May 20 regular meeting and are scheduled to hold their final public hearing on the proposed budget in the month of June.
The hearing is scheduled for June 11 at 5:30 p.m.
