A second reading for a solar ordinance that would prohibit a "solar energy facility or solar farm" within the city limits was tabled following concerns raised by Bob Thomas, former county administrator and Rural Green Power (RGP) representative.

SafeHouse Ministries' Easter basket fill up campaign will end on Easter Sunday, March 31. Those interested in participating in making the donation to SafeHouse are encouraged to add an item to a basket or box each day and then donate the items to SafeHouse the Monday after Easter, April 1.

Bozarth wins Congressional Art Competition

Elbert County Comprehensive High School senior Braelyn Bozarth was named the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition hosted by United States House Rep. Mike Collins (GA-10) for her entry "Café." Collins announced the win during a ceremony at the Lyndon House Arts Center in Athens March 23.

Beaverdam Falls Splash Park is set to be the name of the new splash pad being constructed on North McIntosh Street on the former senior league field, City Manager Lanier Dunn announced during the city’s annual planning session March 9.
