Dye to begin June 12 as county economic developer

The Development Authority of Elbert County, Elberton and Bowman officially hired Caitlyn Dye as their new economic developer after announcing her as the sole finalist for the position May 9. The position has been vacant since the previous economic developer left December of 2023.

BOE to hold final hearing on budget June 11

Early voting begins Monday

Early voting for the May 21 General Primary/Nonpartisan Election is set to begin Monday, April 29 in the Historic Rock Gym. Voting will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with two days of Saturday voting being held on Saturday, May 4 and Saturday, May 11.

Jumbotron vote most likely on April 29 agenda

The Elbert County Board of Education (BOE) is scheduled to hold a called meeting April 29 at 5:30 p.m. with a “very good likelihood” a vote on the proposed digital matrix board will be on the agenda, Superintendent Robert Wheeler announced April 23.

Bowman planning water rate increase

Residential customers in the City of Bowman may see a slight increase in their water bills soon after a recommendation to raise water rates was made by Bill Powell from the Georgia Rural Water Association during Monday night's council meeting.
