City council proposes electric rate increases

The City of Elberton is proposing to raise electric rates by an average of three percent as the cost of wholesale power continues to increase and cause a deficit in the electric division, Interim City Manager Kevin Eavenson said during the city’s June 3 budget work session.

Three-time Superbowl champion and former Elbert County Blue Devil standout MeCole Hardman will be present for the Friends Helping Friends Football Fun Day Saturday, June 15.  The free event will take place at McWilliams Park from 9 a.m. to noon and will be held rain or shine.

Early voting for June 18 runoff set for June 10

Early voting for the democratic sheriff’s runoff  will be held June 10 through June 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Rock Gym. Voters desiring to vote absentee by mail who are not already registered to do so have until Friday, June 7  at 5 p.m.

Runoff scheduled for sheriff's race

The May 21 Primary Election for Elbert County Sheriff is headed to a runoff on the democratic side of the ballot after candidates Dre Gibbs and Darren Scarborough were unable to secure more than 50 percent of the vote. They will face each other in a run-off June 18.

Farewell to the Class of 2024

Bowman to see water, waste rate changes
