EMS to cease inter-facility transfer services

By Julie Weeks jweeks@elberton.com   Elbert County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will halt hospital-to-hospital transfers for Elbert Memorial Hospital (EMH) Aug. 12, citing staff and resource shortages in their department, EMS Director Chuck Almond announced June 27.

County submits state audits to return to compliance status

Scarborough wins sheriff's runoff

By Mark Wells mwells@elberton.com   Elbert County Sheriff candidate Darren Scarborough officially got the democratic nomination for sheriff after defeating Dre Gibbs in a June 18 runoff election.

Explorers complete certification course

By Julie Weeks jweeks@elberton.com   Eight young people earned certification which they can apply to becoming  the next generation of law enforcement officers through the Elberton Explorers Academy Post 746 Friday, June 21. The 40-hour course, led by local program director Sgt.

City council approves FY2025 budget

The Elberton City Council unanimously approved their $41 million budget for the upcoming fiscal year, the largest in the city’s history, during a called meeting June 17 at City Hall.

From the Granite Bowl to the Super Bowl

Jumping into Fun Football Day

Temperatures were soaring but they weren't too hot to keep approximately 400 people including participants, parents and volunteers from attending the Friends Helping Friends Club, Inc. (FHF) Fun Football Day Saturday, June 15 at McWilliams  Park.
