Mure-cho Sister City exchange students arrive in Elberton

By Julie Weeks jweeks@elberton.com   Five exchange students and their chaperone from Mure-cho, Japan accompanied Elbert County's exchange students returning to Elberton from Mure-cho as part of the Sister City Exchange program.
Over 60 car enthusiasts entered Main Street's Cruise-in and Classic Car Show Saturday, July 20 in Elberton's downtown public square. Cars ranged from restored and "like new" to "improved and empowered" like this 1950s Ford Custom.

Main Street Elberton's 26th annual Cruise-in and Classic Car Show drew a crowd Saturday, July 20 despite an occasional rain shower. A variety of cars and trucks entered the show which also featured local food vendors and artisans.

Judge denies Lunford's motion to set aside consent judgment

Judge Chris Phelps of the Northern Judicial Superior Court denied Aubery Lunsford’s motion to set aside the consent judgment regarding his proposal to establish poultry houses within the city limits of Bowman, a press release from Bowman Mayor Scott Harpold announced.

Main Street to host Christmas in July

Christmas in July will be held on the public square Tuesday, July 30 from 6 p.m to 8 p.m.  Shoppers will find stores and restaurants with special Back-to-School extended hours and discounts. Santa will be on hand, and kids can also enjoy a bouncy house, train and face painting.
