Interim City Manager Kevin Eavenson has been named the sole finalist to succeed former City Manager Lanier Dunn after a nomination from Elberton Mayor Daniel Graves and unanimous approval from the Elberton City Council during the Oct. 7 regular meeting.

ECPRD creates Friends of McWilliams Park non-profit

Elbert County Parks and Recreation Department (ECPRD) Director Tim Gaines announced the creation of a new 501(c)(3) named Friends of McWilliams Park, which will serve as the fundraising arm for the recreation department. “Its going to be all-encompassing for our program,” Gaines said.

19th Jimmy Johnson Golf Classic sees record turnout

The Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation hosted the 19th Annual Jimmy Johnson Golf Classic Oct. 4 and saw a record turnout of 31 teams during the event. The tournament was an 18-hole, four-man Lauderdale-style tournament with handicaps that was hosted at Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course at Richard B.

Jean Worley is living proof that mammograms save lives
