Fresh Starts

By Julie Weeks jweeks@elberton.com   Elbert County students and school staff returned to school Friday, Aug. 2 to start the new school year.  School officials reported an enrollment of 2,926 students inn Pre-K through 12th grade on the first day back.

Missing local man found deceased

By Julie Weeks jweeks@elberton.com    A Code RED Alert was issued  Thursday, Aug. 1 for an elderly Bowman resident who was reported missing by his family. Leon Dobbs, 86, was last seen around 9 a.m. and was reported missing at 2:31 p.m.

Last Splash of Summer

Elbert County Library's summer reading program ended on a "wet" note Friday, July 26. The Big Splash event punctuated a busy summer for the library, which featured a magician, ventriloquist, reptile expert, Lego-palooza and other educational sessions during the summer break.
