By Julie Weeks  jweeks@elberton.com   The City of Bowman's clerk's office notified The Elberton Star Tuesday of an incorrect deadline relayed by their staff regarding applications for recall petitions for Mayor Scott Harpold and city council members Leah Carey and Betty Jo Maxwell.

Everyone loves a Snow Day

By Julie Weeks jweeks@elberton.com   Friday, Jan. 10 brought a wintry mix to a large part of the state which began with as much as two inches of snow in some areas followed by freezing rain. Elbert County Schools had called off classes for the day, and city and county offices were also closed.

Splash pad bids expected in coming weeks

Elberton City Manager Kevin Eavenson said he expects to have a pair of bids for the support building accompanying the Beaverdam Falls Splash Park before the bidding window closes, resolving a months-long saga and getting the project moving forward again.

Former state representative Charles Mann dead at 89

Long-time Elbert County resident and former Georgia House Representative Charles C. Mann died at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 24. He was 89. A native of Lyons, Mann and wife Mary Frances Ward Mann arrived in Elberton in 1960 where he first worked at Elberton Drug.
