Elbert County native Jaukeem Fortson is set to go from “The Voice” stage to the Grand Ole Opry as his elimination from the show has opened more doors in his budding musical career.

Evergreen homicide arrests now include total of eight suspects

By Julie Weeks jweeks@elberton.com    The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) announced Nov. 19 additional arrests have been made in the case of the Oct. 12 shooting which took the life of 15 year-old Hart County resident Bryshun Jordan and injured several others in Elberton.

BOE weighs effects of tax vote

Julie Weeks jweeks@elberton.com   After Georgians voted Nov. 5 in favor of House Bill 581 (HB-581), the Elbert County School District must now study the ramifications of the new tax laws which will go into effect. Under HB581, homestead assessments would be capped at a rate  yet to be determined.
