Lady Devils extend streak to six

Elbert County’s Lady Devils basketball team are off to a scorching 6-0 start and are back among Sandy’s Spiel’s Top 5-ranked teams in the state for the first time since the final rankings of the 2022-2023 season that saw the Lady Devils make a Final Four appearance.

Mat Devils finish second at Panther Invitational

The Elbert County Mat Devils finished second as a team at the annual Panther Invitational hosted by Jackson County after finishing the tournament with a total of 10 individual placers Dec. 7.  The Devils finished second with 161 points,  behind only Jackson County who finished with 211 points.

Blue Devil football season came to a close Friday after Elbert County fell to No. 1-ranked Toombs County in the Elite Eight round of the GHSA State Playoffs by a score of 56-17 after the Devils were unable to overcome costly first-half mistakes.

Elbert County’s Blue Devils football team have a total of 12 athletes who were named to the Region 8A Division 1 All-Region team Dec. 2.  Named first-team all-region were wide receiver Ty’Rikis Jones, tight end Brady Dickerson, center Landon Williams and linebacker Lincoln Blackmon.

Elbert County’s Lady Devils basketball team is 3-0 on the season after a dominant 73-48 win over Washington-Wilkes in the Inferno Nov. 30. The win is Elbert’s third on the season after the Lady Devils picked up a 48-40 win over Madison County Nov. 26 and a 59-48 win over Franklin County Nov. 19.
