Cross Country to run in sectionals this weekend

The Elbert County  Blue Devils and Lady Devils cross country teams are ready to run their way into the State Championship Meet as they are scheduled to compete in the Class A Division 1 sectional meet Nov. 2 at East Jackson High School.

Basketball teams host first Alumni Game

The Elbert County Blue Devils and Lady Devils basketball teams hosted the first Alumni Game Oct. 26 in the Inferno.  The event featured two games, one with former Blue Devils and one with former Lady Devils competing for bragging rights.

Rams win NEGIAA Championship

The Elbert County Middle School Rams football team is the 2024 Northeast Georgia Interscholastic Athletics Association (NEGIAA) champion after beating Stephens County by a score of 28-22 in the Reservation Oct. 17.

Lady Devils sweep Dodge in first round

The Elbert County Lady Devils are on to the Sweet Sixteen after sweeping a three-game series against Dodge County in two games in the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs Oct. 19.  The series saw a doubleheader played on Oct. 19 with a potential “If” game scheduled for Oct.

Devils lose in heartbreaker to Athens Academy

The Elbert County Blue Devils football team fell in a heartbreaker to region frontrunner Athens Academy, losing on a blocked extra point with 44 seconds left.  The game was a back-and-forth battle between the two Region 8 powers that saw Elbert gain 437 yards while the Spartans gained 410 yards.

The Elbert County Blue Devil Band brought home four first-place finishes, a second-place finish and earned a superior rating in every category during the Lake Hartwell Marching Band Competition hosted by Hart County Oct. 19.

Elbert County’s Blue Devils football team put on a near flawless performance on homecoming as the Devils shutout Banks County 33-0 in the Granite Bowl Oct. 11.

Elbert County’s Lady Devils softball team are slated to host Dodge County in the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs Oct. 19 after being given the No. 14 seed by the GHSA’s new power rankings formula.
