Lady Devils ready for region tourney

Elbert County’s Lady Devils basketball team is scheduled to kick off competition in the Region 8A Division 1 tournament semi-finals with a game against Athens Academy today at 4 p.m. at Peidmont University in Demorest. The Lady Devils enter the tournament as the No.

Devils fall to Storm

Elbert County’s Blue Devils basketball team beat No. 7 Oglethorpe County Feb. 8 in the play-in game for the Region 8A Divison 1 championship tournament, but ultimately came up just short in the first round of the tournament as they were eliminated by No. 3 Providence Christian Feb. 10.

Mat Devils finish second in area

The Elbert County Mat Devils finished second overall and had three area champions at the Area 8A Traditional Tournament hosted by Elbert in the Inferno Feb. 1.  The Devils finished the tournament with 12 total placers, including three area champions and eight Top 3 finishers.

ECMS finishes as region runners-up

The Elbert County Middle School seventh and eighth grade Lady Rams basketball teams both made it to the Northeast Georgia Interscholastic Athletics Association Championship game, but both teams came up just short to finish the season as region runners-up.

Lady Devils blow out Lady Pats

The Elbert County Lady Devils basketball team is 21-2 on the year following a commanding 69-42 win on the road over Oglethorpe Jan. 31.  The big win was a rebound win for the Lady Devils after they suffered their second loss of the season to Providence Christian Jan. 28.

Devils beat Oglethorpe for ninth win of season

The Elbert County Blue Devils basketball team earned an important third region win on the year by dominating Oglethorpe by a score of 67-54 Jan. 31.

Lady Devils sweep Rabun

Elbert County’s No. 2-ranked Lady Devils finished off their regular-season series with Rabun County 2-0 after a 52-41 win over the Lady Cats in the Inferno Jan. 27.  The Lady Devils faced Rabun for the first time Dec. 17 and dominated the Lady Cats, winning by a score of 57-34.

Mat Devils hosting Area Traditionals

Elbert County’s Mat Devils are gearing up for the Area 8A Traditional Tournament after finishing second in the Inferno Invitational Jan. 25.  The Area 8A Traditonals are scheduled for Feb.

Devils beat Stephens

The Elbert County Blue Devils picked up their eighth win of the season on the road against Stephens County Jan. 25 before falling at home to No. 5 Rabun County Jan. 27.

Dickerson named all-state for second year

Senior Brady Dickerson of the Elbert County Blue Devils football team was named first-team all-state for the tight-end position for the second consecutive season.
