SAR to host 13th commemoration of Battle of Vann’s Creek

The Samuel Elbert Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will host the 13th commemoration of the Battle of Vann’s Creek Saturday, Dec. 3 at Richard B. Russell State Park. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the Walter McNeely Pavilion at the park.
Main Street Elberton’s Candlelight Shop Night drew large crowds on the downtown square Tuesday, Nov. 22, including a visit from Santa Claus. Local merchants and small businesses opened their doors and booths, the County-Line Jazz Band performed with lighted instruments and the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree was officially held. Elbert County Comprehensive High School (ECCHS) freshman Leah Higginbotham was crowned Elbert County’s first Grand Champion of the Junior Commercial Dairy Show at the 2022 Georgia National Fair Oct. 11. Higginbotham won the championship with her Holstein Dairy  Heifer, Willow.
