Anderson: ‘We played solider’ in Korea

While the Korean War saw the height of its conflict while John N. “Pete” Anderson was in high school, he received a notice in the mail that he had been drafted into the United States Army when he was 23 years old.

ECCHS unveils Bennett-Jossey art gallery

Elbert County Comprehensive High School (ECCHS) art teacher Lee Wells and media specialist Jeannie Jourolmon have brought a brand new art gallery to the school for students to proudly display their art in a professional setting, while also honoring the legacy of past art teachers along the way.

Tuesday’s election results will be in Nov. 15 edition

Results from the Nov. 7 municipal elections in the City of Elberton and City of Bowman, along with the county’s transportation special purpose local option sales tax were unavailable before press time. The results will receive full coverage in the Nov. 15 edition of The Elberton Star.

Pair charged following Nov. 1 shooting on Miller Drive

A pair of suspects were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and reckless conduct, among other charges, following a shooting on Miller Drive Nov. 1. Phillip Alan Turman, 25, of Athens was booked and charged by the Elberton Police Department (EPD) Nov.

Early voting ends Friday

Early voting for municipal races in the City of Elberton and City of Bowman and the county-wide transportation special purpose local option sales tax (TSPLOST) will conclude this Friday, Nov. 3.

Proposing designs for downtown

Changes are coming to the City of Elberton’s downtown square as the city is currently in the process of planning for multiple improvements to the area after developing a new “conceptual master plan.

Hospital sees strong first quarter

Elbert Memorial Hospital (EMH) recorded a positive $317,413 in excess revenue for the end of its first quarter of the 2024 fiscal year, a 180 degree turnaround from its negative $220,477 at the end of the first quarter in the 2023 fiscal year.
