Detention center officer one of six charged in drug smuggling scheme

An Elbert County Detention Center (ECDC) officer was one of six people arrested and charged in a drug smuggling scheme at the jail, Chief Deputy Darren Scarborough announced Monday.

Pair charged following Nov. 1 shooting on Miller Drive

Hospital sees strong first quarter

Elbert Memorial Hospital (EMH) recorded a positive $317,413 in excess revenue for the end of its first quarter of the 2024 fiscal year, a 180 degree turnaround from its negative $220,477 at the end of the first quarter in the 2023 fiscal year.
