Property tax exemption committee to meet Thursday

By Rose Scoggins rscoggins@elberton.com   Members of the committee that will look at proposing additional senior citizen exemptions on property taxes have been set in time for Thursday’s first meeting, according to County Administrator Allen Hulme.

Clear to collect

The Elbert County Board of Commissioners will soon start sending out tax bills for collection after the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) approved the county’s tax digest Oct. 5.

Receiving state recognition

A pair of state awards were recently bestowed locally to the Elbert County Comprehensive High School (ECCHS) cafeteria staff and Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course. The ECCHS cafeteria was awarded the Georgia Department of Education’s School Nutrition Division’s Cafeteria Award of Excellence Oct. 5.

Committee to look at potential senior tax exemptions

A committee that will look at proposing additional senior citizen exemptions on property taxes will hold its first meeting Thursday, Oct. 19 after being unanimously approved to be formed by the Elbert County Board of Commissioners Oct. 4. The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m.

The Star, WSGC Radio to host political forum Thursday

The Elberton Star and WSGC Radio will co-host a forum at the Elbert County Government Complex on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. for local candidates in the City of Elberton and City of Bowman elections. The forum will be held in the Elbert County Government Complex cafeteria.
