As soon as the word got out last week that Rep. Tom McCall wouldn't be seeking re-election in the coming year for the first time since the early 1990s, he said he received phone calls from potential candidates for District 33 seat. And he advice: 'Get your wife on board.'

Pete Gibbons will resign from his position as mayor effective Jan. 1, 2020. Carla Patten, mayor pro tem, announced Gibbons sent an email to City Clerk Crystal Duck and City Attorney Richard Campbell that he was resigning from his position but did not give a reason why.

Commission approves roads on its LMIG list

At its regularly scheduled meeting Monday night, the Elbert County Board of Commissioners approved a list of roads for the 2020 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) through the GA DOT that will make repairs to almost eight miles of six county roads.
