Kemp ordering Georgia to shelter-in-place through April 13

By Beau Evans Staff Writer Capitol Beat News Service ATLANTA - Georgia will be placed under a statewide shelter-in-place order starting Friday through April 13 as coronavirus infections have brought the state’s hospitals to a tipping point, Gov. Brian Kemp announced Wednesday.

Still reporting no positives

Practice Administrator Brooke McDowell of The Medical Center of Elberton said Tuesday morning that the local health facility has tested 35 patients for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 21 have come back negative. According to McDowell, 14 test results are pending.

City, county altering meetings

The City of Elberton and the Elbert County Board of Commissioners announced Monday morning that changes would be made to the governing bodies’ meeting locations due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Students ‘grab and go’ with school meals

Since closing its doors to students on March 13 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Elbert County School System has given out almost 12,000 “grab and go” meals to students across the county.
