It is no stretch whatsoever to say that Jon Jarvis’ first month as school superintendent has been a challenge unlike any other superintendent in the history of the Elbert County School District.

Lauren Dye said she doesn’t know whether she’s cursed or blessed.  Since March 27, two of Dye’s horses, “Audi” and “Cami,” have given birth to sets of living twins.

As Michael Dale Woodall, 46, was being booked into the Elbert County Detention Center in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 22, he thought he would be detained for maybe a couple of days. “What I did was wrong,” he readily admits.
After testing for COVID-19 on May 1, Elberton’s Police Department revealed it had two positive cases of COVID-19.

Elberton Police Chief Mark Welsh said prior to the testing of his police department on May 1 he believed his department was “clean.” But after undergoing testing, Welsh and the Elberton Police Department (EPD) found out that two of 25 members of the city police force tested positive for COVID-19.

The Elbert County Board of Commissioners (BOC) approved the county’s first T-SPLOST (Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) project since passing the necessary legislation in March 2019, totaling almost $915,000 to do resurfacing work on six county roads.
