Dobbins ‘meeting, greeting’

New Economic Developer and newlywed Daniel Dobbins told the members of the Elbert County, Elberton and Bowman Development Authority Thursday that he is going at his job in a “robust manner” and that he first wants to “do my homework” by concentrating on “existing industries.

Elbert County and legal guardians agreeing to a $299,000 settlement

Attorneys representing guardians of three children of a woman killed in a 2017 crash involving a patrol car driven by a deputy, and attorneys representing Elbert County’s insurance company have agreed on a $299,000 settlement in a lawsuit filed by the guardians.

Vicky Lloyd Stanley, who moved to Elbert County during her youth because of her father Jim Lloyd’s involvement in constructing the Richard B. Russell Dam, was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Award from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) on Jan. 13.
