From teaching math for 35 years to her current role as the graduation coach, Rhonda Driver has seen a lot during her 40 years of teaching at Elbert County Comprehensive High School (ECCHS). However, the challenges brought about by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic are “firsts” for her.

With physicians and nurses wearing face masks during an entire work shift, mask bands are uncomfortable on the ears. Amanda’s creation, which have made her a celebrity in Savannah, has led to comfortable ears among healthcare workers.

Collins vows to ‘make another run’ at the FCC

U.S. Rep. Doug Collins (R) of Georgia’s Ninth Congressional District said Thursday it was time for him “make another run” at convincing the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to allow four Northeast Georgia “orphan’ counties access to television stations in the Atlanta designated market area.

Mrs. Martha Vickery Hewell, 100, of Elberton, Georgia passed into Glory on Monday, April 13, 2020, surrounded by her loving daughter, Susan, and wonderful friends, Diane Aiken and Sissy Jackson.

Six cases - or three?

Without any local knowledge of where the cases may have come from, on Monday evening the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) doubled the number of positive tests for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) for Elbert County residents from three to six.

County approves $1.25 million for paving

The Elbert County Board of Commissioners approved an over $1.25 million project to resurface county roads as part of the 2020 LMIG program at Monday night’s virtually-held meeting.  The total project will cost $1,250,696.10 and will be paid, for the most part, by money from the 2020 LMIG program.

Elberton police shut down Elm Street birthday parties

Even after Elberton Police Chief Mark Welsh announced that disorderly and reckless conduct ordinances would be enforced after reports of two “block parties” at the end of March, Welsh said Elberton had two birthday parties on Elm Street that had to be shut down this past weekend.
