Elbert to accept CARES funding

Elbert County is set to receive $735,851 from the Georgia Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act and Coronavirus Relief Fund after the Elbert County Board of Commissioners (BOC) voted to accept payments at Monday’s regular meeting.

Hobbs new SEPA administrator

Virgil G. Hobbs III was selected as Administrator for the Southeastern Power Administration (SEPA), according to an announcement Monday issued by  SEPA Human Resources Business Partner Amanda Adams.  Hobbs succeeds Kenneth E. Legg who retired earlier this year, according to the announcement.

Assessment made on health risk at ECPS

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) has determined that past exposures to dioxins in the soil at Elbert County Primary School were “not likely” to harm school children who played in a contaminated area in the past.

DPH tested, for free, 2,569 over four weeks at Civic Center

Over a four-week period beginning on June 22 the Georgia Department of Public Health tested 2,569 people for free at the Elberton Civic Center, according to an update from Elbert County Emergency Management Agency Director Chuck Almond and Deputy Director Beth Seymour.
