Worker dies from fall in quarry

An Elberton man died from injuries he sustained in a quarry accident after he fell approximately 40-to-50 feet just after 10 a.m. Wednesday morning (July 28).

Jourolmon new EMH chair

Leon Jourolmon will take over the helm of the Elbert Memorial Hospital (EMH) Authority Board after being nominated for the position being vacated by Chairman Daniel Graves during the authority’s July 27 meeting.

Pilgrim’s meets with members of city council

Discussion on whether or not Pilgrim’s may locate a potential rendering plant within Elbert County and the meetings the mayor and members of the Elberton City Council have had with the company stirred controversy during the council’s regular meeting Monday night.

TMCE’s clinic on Sunday

When The Medical Center of Elberton (TMCE) begins its vaccination clinic on Sunday at 1 p.m., Elbert County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Chuck Almond said staffers from EMA will be on hand to help. “We are going to have extra people there to support (TMCE’s clinic),” said Almond.

Vaccine ‘push’ at TMCE

The Medical Center of Elberton (TMCE) Practice Administrator Brooke McDowell said Monday the health facility has received a grant that will enable TMCE and the Elbert County Emergency Medical Services to operate a vaccine clinic on Sunday, Aug. 8 from 1 to 5 p.m.

County’s budget increases $1.2 million

Both part time and full time county employees will receive a $1 an hour raise and part time and full time public safety employees will see a $2 an hour raise after the Elbert County Board of Commissioners approved the delayed 2022 fiscal year budget during a called meeting Monday.
