City raises electric rates

Electric rates for Elberton Utilities customers have been raised for the first time since 2013 after the Elberton City Council approved the new index of rates during Monday night’s meeting. Rates were effective May 1. Residential rates were raised from a base charge of $12.50 to $14.

As voters begin to head to the polls as early voting for the May 24 primary began Monday, the Republican ballot features a new district number above Georgia House of Representatives Rep. Rob Leverett’s name.
