Records from Elbert Memorial Hospital sent to be audited show that former Chief Executive Officer Kerry Trapnell made contributions to political candidates Herschel Walker/WinRed PAC, Mallory Staples and Patrick Witt using hospital funds. Along with the contribution to Take Back Georgia PAC, contributions ranged from November 2021 to April 2022 and totaled $38,300.

Adding up

Elbert Memorial Hospital’s $25,000 contribution to the Take Back Georgia political action committee (PAC) in March that began the controversy that eventually led to former Chief Executive Officer Kerry Trapnell being fired from the hospital June 10 wasn’t an isolated contribution.

Guidestones go to EGA

The remnants of the Georgia Guidestones will have a new home as they were donated to the Elberton Granite Association (EGA) Museum after a vote from the Elbert County Board of Commissioners during Monday night’s meeting. The vote came after hesitancy from the board as they lagged to make a motion.

Commissioners appoint Hunt to serve District 1

David Hunt is the newest member of the Elbert County Board of Commissioners after he was appointed 3-1 by the board to fill the vacant District 1 seat during Monday night’s meeting.

BOE prepares to roll back

Expanding financial opportunities

EMH ends fiscal year in the black

Although the month of June left Elbert Memorial Hospital with a little over half a million dollars in a budget deficit for excess revenue, the hospital finished the 2022 fiscal year (FY) in the black with $818,255 in excess revenue.
