ECMS boys tennis wins region

The Elbert County Middle School boys tennis team brought home the 2023 NEGIAA region championship March 23, beating Hart County for the championship.

Tennis Devils sit at third in region

After defeating Athens Christian at home March 20, the Elbert County Tennis teams have settled into third place in the region standings with one match to play as of March 27. The Lady Devils swept Athens Christian 5-0 while the Devils won in a close 3-2 match. Emily Poon won the No.

Soccer teams set to fight for top spots in last region games Thursday at home

Topping the state rankings

Elbert County’s Diamond Devils are ranked No. 5 in the state after sweeping a home doubleheader against Rabun County March 18 to improve to 16-3 on the year. The Devils won both games in dominating fashion as they took the first game 9-1 and the second game 16-4.

Devils push for region win over Rabun

The Elbert County Blue Devils soccer team moved back into second place in the region after an intense 4-3 overtime victory over region opponent Rabun County that came off the back of a Chapo Serna brace in the Granite Bowl March 14.

Track teams host first home meet

Elbert County’s boys and girls track teams hosted their first ever home meet March 9 as they competed against Stephens County and Hart County in a tri-meet. The meet was the second of the season for Elbert after they opened the season with the Eagle Invitational hosted by East Jackson March 4.

Net Devils go 2-3 in region play

The Elbert County Tennis teams fell to Rabun County at home March 16 to move to 2-3 in Region 8A Division 1. “This is the first match where we lost a match that I felt like we could’ve had some more wins,” Head Coach Corey Hopson said.

ECPR 8U girls All Stars end as runners-up

The Elbert County Parks and Recreation 8 and Under Girls All Stars finished the Georgia Recreation Parks Association District 7 Class C Tournament as the region runners-up Feb. 25 in Rabun County.

Diamond Devils defeat Tallulah

The Elbert County Diamond Devils started off their 2023 region schedule with a 7-6 walk-off win over Tallulah Falls March 9 at Diamond Devil Field. With the game tied at 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh and final inning, Nate Webb reached on a single and advanced to third base.
