Diamond Devils begin playoffs Thursday

Playoff baseball is set to get underway this week as the No. 1 seed Elbert County Diamond Devils are scheduled to face the No. 4 seed Trion Bulldogs at home for the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs April 27.

The Lady Devils finished the regular season with a 5-4 overall record and a 3-2 record in Region 8A Division 1.

Tennis season officially came to a close in Elbert County after the Lady Devils were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by Darlington in Rome April 19. “I honestly think they’ll probably end up being the semi final for our end of the bracket.

Fleming receives national Character and Leadership All-American Award

Junior wrestler Carter Fleming was recognized as one of the 1,076 winners across the country of the 2023 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA)/United States Marine Corps (USMC) Character and Leadership All-American Award March 17.

The Elbert County Lady Devils tennis team are set to play in the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs today at Darlington after securing the No. 4 seed during the Region 8A Division 1 tournament April 11 and 12.

Diamond Devils set eyes on back-to-back championships

The No. 3 ranked Elbert County Diamond Devils are playing for a chance to win back-to-back region championships as they conclude their regular season region schedule with three games against Commerce this week.

Historic win ‘means the world’

The Elbert County Blue Devils soccer team will host a playoff game for the first time in school history after clinching the No. 2 seed in Region 8A Division 1 with a 2-1 win over the Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy Blazers in the Granite Bowl March 30. “It means the world.
