Slow Pitch keeps rolling with a pair of doubleheader sweeps

The Elbert County Lady Devils slow-pitch softball team picked up another pair of sweeps as they beat Johnson and North Oconee in a total of four games.  The Lady Devils' week started with a game at home against Johnson from Gainesville March 12.

Diamond Devils sweep Spartans

The Elbert County Blue Devils baseball team bounced back from their loss to Hart last week with a three-game sweep of Athens Academy to take a share of first place in Region 8A Division 1.  Elbert kicked off the series by beating Athens Academy at home by a score of 14-4 March 5.

Softball team to retire Bray’s No. 20 tonight

The Elbert County Lady Devils slow pitch softball team is set to retire the No. 20, previously worn by Kim Harper Bray, in between tonight’s doubleheader against Johnson High School at Wesley King Field.  The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Tennis teams sweep Washington-Wilkes at home

Elbert County's Lady Devils tennis team picked up a big win at home over Washington-Wilkes March 6, winning four out of five matches played against the Lady Tigers. The Lady Devils saw wins in all three of their singles matches, picking up a sweep in each individual match.  The No.
Madden Drake, Kale Kurtz, Nolan Henderson, Caleb Burton and Carson Amabile finished sixth out of 21 teams at the West Georgia Invitational in LaGrange March 8. Devils golf divides and conquers around the state

Elbert County's Blue Devils golf team split up and competed in a pair of tournaments over the weekend, with one team competing in the West Georgia Invitational in LaGrange and the other competing in the Apple Mountain Invitational in Habersham.

Devils fall to Hart in extra innings

Elbert County’s Diamond Devils fell in an extra-innings heartbreaker against Hart County Feb. 28 to drop to 4-4 overall on the season.  The game started with Hart jumping out to an early lead over the Devils after getting  a run on a single in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.

Lady Devils earn Top 20 finish at Red Ryder Cup

The Elbert County Lady Devils golf team had a Top 20 finish in a highly competitive field at the annual Red Ryder Cup held at the Jekyll Island Golf Club Complex March 1.

GHSA searching for ‘competitive balance’

The Georgia High School Association’s Reclassification Committee met Feb 25 to discuss a new ‘competitive balance model’ in an effort to find more balance across all classifications. The competitive balance model, which was first proposed during the Nov.

Elbert 12U Boys win District 7 Class C title

Elbert County's 12U boys basketball all-stars dominated the competition, averaging a margin of victory of 55 points, on their way to winning the District 7 Class C Championship March 1.  The Devils began their tournament run with a  dominant 66-11 win over Rabun County in the first round Feb. 27.

Devils and Lady Devils face Rabun Thursday

Elbert County's Blue Devils and Lady Devils soccer teams are scheduled to continue region play tomorrow as they face off with Rabun County in the Granite Bowl in a game that was rescheduled from Friday due to the threat of incoming rain.
