Hoop Devils’ playoff run ends at Model

The Elbert County boys’ basketball team lost at Model High School in the second round of the GHSA state playoffs Saturday night, bringing an end to the Blue Devils’ season. Elbert finished the year 13-13 overall including playoffs.

Elbert tennis teams beat Washington-Wilkes

The Elbert tennis teams inched closer to region play this past week and got a good look at some college tennis while they were at it. Per the Elbert County Tennis Facebook page, members of the team and coaching staff attended a University of Georgia tennis march on Saturday, Feb. 21.

Devils, Lady Devils finish fourth at Blue Devil Shootouts

  Arrowhead Pointe was bustling this weekend as it played host to the Blue Devil Shootouts Feb. 28. A total of 136 golfers from around Georgia came to compete in the scramble tournament, which was split between boys and girls. Both of Elbert’s teams finished fourth in their respective fields.

Keep Elbert County Beautiful holding amnesty events, recycling day

Keep Elbert County Beautiful (KECB) is slated for a busy March as they are holding tire amnesty events and a recycling event over the course of the month. The recycling event is scheduled for March 14 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Bowman Recycling Center at 22. N. Segars St.

Oliver Street set for paving

One of the busiest roads in the city limits is set for a long-term paving project as City Manager Kevin Eavenson announced Monday that North and South Oliver Streets are scheduled to be repaved starting in June.
